Fall Into Reading 2007

I'm very excited to join the Fall Into Reading Challenge from Callapidder Days. I participated this past Spring and enjoyed it quite a bit. The dates for the Fall Challenge are September 26 to December 21. Since late November and all of December are such busy times of the year, I've decided to keep my list short.

Lately we've been having a family night at the library about every 2 weeks. (Videos are 2 week check outs so that provides a convenient time schedule.) It was working really well, until we discovered just how much Daniel(1) LOVES the elevator. It started out innocently enough. He would smile as we pushed the stroller through the doors and clap when they opened. Then he began to make an excited squeal as the elevator started moving. The last time we went, he began mimicking the beep that indicates the second floor. I found all of that funny, until I pushed the stroller out of the elevator and he let out a mighty, rebel yell while throwing his body over the side in a futile attempt to get turned around back toward the doors. No amount of shushing or hushing helped. He kept it up until we had no choice but to leave the library or ride the elevator over and over and over. It may be a few weeks before I find the courage to take him back again. Or maybe we'll use another library for a few months. One with no elevator!

In the meantime, if I do check out books, I'll add them to my reading list here.
(All the pictures are from Amazon.com. If I have time later, I'll link the pictures too.)

Unspoken by Francine Rivers
I have read almost all of Francine Rivers' books, except for this series, and I love her stories! My most favorite is called Redeeming Love. I know the library has more in this series so I will likely add those to my list as I check them out.

The Revelation by Beverly Lewis
I have just started reading Beverly Lewis. My Ohio family has read many, if not all, of her books, but for some reason I never got started. I am currently waiting for this book to be returned to the library so I can check it out. It is #5 in the series. If they have more, I may start another series by her as well.

The Patriarchs by Beth Moore
I am determined to finish this study. I love Beth Moore Bible studies! This one we were originally doing as a family. However it has become so inconsistent that I'm moving ahead on my own. (By the way, yes, Brenna(4) loves to do Bible study with us. She likes to answer the questions, and often learns a new word or two along the way. We did have to skip a few lessons that weren't exactly age appropriate topics. ahem. I think if you've read Genesis and a bit about Lot, you'll know what I mean.)

Slightly Bad Girls of the Bible by Liz Curtis Higgs
I am reading this one with my friend Suzanne. We'll be participating in the Mom Time book club sponsored by Lisa Welchel. I'm excited to try out a book club online. Here's the link that will tell you all about it. I don't know a whole lot about Lisa, but to quote Suzanne, "Lisa is AMAZING!" That's enough for me...I'll be signed up as soon as I get a hold of the book! (I've also never read anything by Liz Curtis Higgs, but she was featured in my Today's Christian Woman all the time.)

Streams of Living Water by Richard Foster
This is my only carry over from the Spring. I find Richard Foster's books to be very challenging. I have to concentrate and even take notes. But I love what I learn. Last fall I finished his book on prayer and was able to use it to supplement the class I was teaching at church. I am barely started with this one, but I have high hopes!

Obsessed by Ted Dekker
Michael and I huge Ted Dekker fans. I thought we'd read everything he'd written, but we somehow missed this one. I'll be ordering it...probably tonight. Once I get excited to order a new book, I can't wait long. : )

Great list! I always enjoy Ted Dekker, and I have to agree that Richard Foster's books can be challenging. They require me to set aside time to think, digest, etc. Love your elevator story -- my 1-year-old is enthralled by elevators as well, and would probably be happy if we spent a good chunk of the day in them. :) Thanks for being part of the challenge!

Wow - all those books this fall? I am so very impressed. My husband reads every night instead of watching TV.
It's amazing how much time I waste watching mindless shows, but I have such a hard time reading at night for some reason.
When do you fit your reading in?
