Does Gracie Have What?

This morning as I was changing Carrie's diaper before breakfast, Daniel (4) looked over at me and said, "Mom, does {all the words ran together}?

Since I didn't understand most of the question I asked him to say it again. This is what I thought I heard - "Mom, does Gracie still have her ass?" Grace is my friend's six year old daughter.

Certain that I'd misheard, I had him repeat it. "Mom! I said, does Gracie still have her ass?" By now he had my full attention. "Does Gracie still have her what?" I asked, leaning closer to him to listen carefully.

"Her ass!" He said emphatically, and with a bit of irritation.

We don't use that word and he doesn't know that word. I take that back. He might have heard it in the song Toes by Zac Brown Band but he definitely doesn't know what it means. So I finished dressing Carrie and kneeled down right in front of him.

"Daniel, did you say 'Does Gracie still have her ass'?

"Yes, Mom! Does she?"

I told him I had no idea what he meant. No clue what he was talking about. And then suddenly, I did. I knew exactly what he was trying to ask.

"Daniel, the word is rash. rrrrash. Say it. rrrrrrash. And no she doesn't have that rash anymore."
