I'm Still Here...

So the ol' blog here is taking a hit while I sit around and wait for labor to start. I suspect it's going to be like that for a while - (the blog part, not the sitting around waiting for labor part. That would be awful!) I don't expect the feeding and sleeping patterns of a newborn to be very interesting blog material.

But there might be pictures. That would be good.

Anyway, here are a few things bits and pieces worth sharing.

Someone posted this to Facebook and we spent twenty minutes alternately laughing and being disgusted by the food on it last night. Amusing site.

Last week Michael took Brenna out to lunch - a little Daddy/Daughter date. During the meal, he asked her if there was anything she was worried about with the new baby coming. Her answer was, "I'm just worried that Daniel won't get enough attention."

The level of perception in that answer blows me away.

I've been totally amazed at the many ways our family has been blessed throughout this pregnancy. Let me just list a few:
1. A friend gave me a giant tub of maternity clothes. I mostly wore her clothes.
2. Same friend gave us an infant car seat that's more narrow than ours - allowing us to fit 3 car seats in our car, and thereby put off buying a minivan.
3. When things got really rough, the specialist I saw was compassionate and understanding - apparently a rarity in his field.
4. My parents and sister/brother-in-law took our kids to the beach for a whole week.
5. Another friend just brought Daniel a train table, complete with wooden tracks and trains, that her grandsons were no longer using. He loves it!

Daniel is starting to get word play jokes. He laughs if he asks, "Mom, can I watch a little tv?" Then he says, "We don't have a little tv! Can I watch tv for a little while?" He also read his first 'Sight Words' book today. It's amazing that just a year ago, I was wondering if he was ever going to start talking! Now he talks non-stop, especially in the car.

Brenna's read so much this summer there's no chance for anyone to catch her. She's well past the 3000 page mark. Today she and Michael were doing division in the grocery store. They had six boxes and two people to hold them. She figured out the answer. She and I have been learning to crochet together too. I thought it would be fun, until I realized that I have to teach her backwards because she's left handed. With much frustration, she finally got the chaining down and has been working her way back down the second row.

Here's hoping the next post will be baby news.... :)
