A friend of mine recently asked me for a list of our favorite books for preschool aged children. Her daughter will be turning four in a few weeks and she was looking for a few gift ideas. Brenna and I compiled the following:

All of the Mercer Mayer books - especially When I get Bigger and Just Big Enough
Oink? by Margie Palatini (We like anything that's clever or silly)
Five Little Monkeys...By Eileen Christelow (there are several in this series and we like them all)
If you give a Mouse a Cookie... by Laura Numeroff (again, there are several in this series and we like them all)
Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very bad Day by Judith Viorst.
The repetitive books by Eric Carle
The beautifully illustrated stories by Max Lucado.
All the poetry books by Jack Prelutsky

PS Eric Carle just passed Dr.Seuss as the favorite children's author in the U.S.A.
